SIBU: About 100 local golfers took part in the 14th Chinese New Year Special Golf Tournament of Swan Golf Fellowship (SGF) held at the Sibu Golf Club, Oya Road last Sunday.

The event was sponsored by Ta Ann Group’s chief executive officer Dato Wong Kuo Hea.

SGF president Datuk Dr Soon Choon Teck, speaking at the prize-giving, said members have been active not only in golf but other related activities.

“Through the many tournaments and also the regular friendly matches, we have achieved our goal of strengthening fellowship and improving golfing skills among our members,” he remarked.

A total of 33 tournaments have been staged since 2003, under the sponsorship of private individuals or corporations.

In the Sunday’s competition, Ting Siew Hock won in the nett category followed by Joe Wong, Lau Ching Leong, Lau Kah Ding, Lau Kieu Jan and Bujang Zainuddin.

The first five finishers in the gross category were Lee Ka Tung, Andy Hii, Wong Lien Tung, Darren Lau and Lau Hie Ping.

Abdul Latif was first among the invited guests ahead of Abdul Hakim, Lawrence Phan, Chieng Yau Lik and Bryan Tiong.

For the seniors event, Roland Ha won followed by Zayadi Sebli, Ambrose Chung, Patrick Tong and Hii Tiong Kheng.
