KUALA LUMPUR: The Prisons Department has set Jan 30 and 31 for families to visit inmates in conjunction with Chinese New Year.

Deputy director (Prisons Policy), Supri Hashim said priority would be given to Chinese inmates.

He said visiting hours would be from 8.15am to 4.15pm.

“There would be no visits on the first and second day of the celebration,” he said in a statement here today.

Visitors are required to bring their Visit Cards and identity cards, and are not allowed to bring in food and drinks.

“Food and drinks can be bought at the prison canteen, and visitors are also not encouraged to present cash to inmates as all basic necessities have been provided.

“If visitors need to give money to the inmates such as for examination fees, they must get the PPT.28 official receipt as acknowledgement,” he said. – Bernama
