Northern LBR team prepares for battle

MIRI: Thirty players were selected for the Northern team for the upcoming Four-Corners Liga Bolasepak Rakyat (LBR) Women Championship Borneo Zone to be held in Bintulu from Feb 3-5.

Players from Bekenu, Limbang and Miri attended the selection which at the Youth Centre field here last weekend.

According to coach Elizabeth Oyau, the selected players included three from Limbang, 18 from Miri and the rest from Bintulu.

“We will be representing the northern zone thus forming the Northern Women LBR and there will be joint training in Bintulu before this Chinese New Year,” Elizabeth, a former national footballer, told The Borneo Post.

The selection was attended by Sarawak Football Association (FAS) vice president Duke Janteng, Limbang FA secretary Aziz Kon and other coaches.

The upcoming tournament will feature teams from Tenom, Sabah Sport School, Sarawak Northern LBR and Sarawak South LBR. The top two teams will then represent Borneo at the national level.

On another matter, Miri FA in collaboration with FAS will be organising a coaching course from Jan 28-31 at National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) here.

The course fee is RM250 (inclusive of notes, course t-shirts, meals and certificate). FAS coaching director Abdul Wahet Uji will be the instructor.
