KOTA KINABALU: Party Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan) wants the police to investigate and take action against a television station for wrongly reporting that party president, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Lajim Ukin has been declared a bankrupt.

The party deputy president Patrick Sadom said that Lajim was only issued a bankruptcy notice and had not been declared a bankrupt as reported by the television station on January 16.

He said the television station which carries the news bearing the title ‘Mahkamah Tinggi Sabah dan Sarawak isytihar Presiden Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin muflis’ (Sabah and Sarawak High Court declares the President of Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin bankrupt) as false and that Lajim is a well-respected politician.

“Datuk Seri Lajim is not a bankrupt. He was only issued a bankruptcy notice,” he said.

Patrick also believed the television station had intentionally slandered the good name of the party and its president.

“We therefore urge the police and relevant authority to take immediate action against the television station,” he said after lodging a police report at the Karamunsing police station here yesterday.
