KANGAR: The police here will be taking various measures to attract more members of the Chinese community to join the Police Volunteer Reserve (PVR), says Perlis police chief SAC Datuk Ab Rashid Ab Wahab.

He said it was hoped more Chinese would join PVR in the state as there is only one member from the Chinese community among 250 active PVR members.

Ab Rashid said the Chinese in the state should grab the career opportunity in PVR to jointly share the responsibility and trust to keep public order in the country.

He was speaking to reporters after a High Profile Policing With the Chinese Community programme at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess here, yesterday night.

In another development, Ab Rashid reminded the people to take precautionary measures before going for their Chinese New Year holidays.

“Houseowners are advised to ensure their premises are properly locked up before leaving. Do not leave valuable items outside the house to avoid attracting criminals,” he said. — Bernama
