KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg is optimistic of finding a solution for United People’s Party (UPP) and Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras).

“When the time comes, we will be able to find a solution… give me time,” he told reporters yesterday after chairing state Barisan Nasional (BN) meeting.

The meeting was attended by PRS president Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing, Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, among others.

Abang Johari, who is state BN chairman and PBB president, said a solution needed to be found because ‘everybody want a strong BN’.

He was asked whether he has any plan for UPP and Teras, being BN-friendly parties.

UPP has five assemblymen, Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh (Bawang Assan) who is also Second Finance Minister, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil (Mambong) who is Assistant Minister for Public Health, Datuk Tiong Thai King (Dudong) Datuk Ranum Mina (Opar) and Johnical Rayong Nyipa (Engkilili), while Teras is not represented in the State Assembly.

Abang Johari also pointed that the state BN would go all out for the Tanjung Datu by-election.

“All the component parties (SPDP, PRS and SUPP) will help PBB in the Tanjung Datu by-election..we will work as a team to ensure that everything is okay. Tanjung Datu is a safe (white) seat for BN, but in politics we can’t take things for granted..so we will prepare our election machinery,” the Chief Minister stressed.

Abang Johari said the BN leaders would work in rythm to develop the state and carry out the policies and foundation laid down by the late Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

“I believe that with our team spirit and support we can work together to meet all that have been promised in the last state election..we need to get our tools  to fulfil the promises together.”
