SUDWO to help in MyKad, birth cert applications

SIBU: Sarawak United Dayak Welfare Organisation (SUDWO) with its focus on rural community service will zero in on helping rural people in their MyKad and birth certificate applications.

Its president, Datuk Joseph Unggu, said they will always go to the ground to carry out community programmes to help the government in serving the people.

“In addition, we will support the efforts of the Dayak leaders in solving the issue of ‘Pulau Galau’ and ‘Pemakai Menua’,” he told reporters here recently.

He reiterated that the organisation is committed to addressing the various problems faced by the rural people, the Dayak community in particular.

According to him, the organisation has presently 23,000 members spreading over nine branches in Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Serian, Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit, Bintulu and Miri.

Besides Joseph, also in the supreme council committee are deputy presidents Mujan King and Warren Fender, vice-presidents Henry Kilah (representing the Orang Ulu), Ivonson Kwee (representing Bidayuh) and longhouse chief (TR) Kemarau Agat (representing Iban).

Other office-bearers are Kevin Nyait (secretary-general), Raymond Ako (assistant secretary-general), Manja Joseph (treasurer) and Melini (assistant treasurer), Bennis Ugih (youth chief), Norliza Umpang (women’s Chief), Tr Jampi (information and publicity chief), Johnny Berangan (arts and culture chief).
