HSS to renovate thousand houses

KANDANGAN, South Kalimantan: The district government of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) will renovate a thousand houses belonging to poor families through 2017 budget funds, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

HSS Regent H Achmad Fikry in Kandangan on Sunday said renovation for rumah sejahtera (prosperous home) to be provided as the government’s efforts for the welfare of disadvantaged communities.

According to him, the social assistance is to protect the poor out of rain, heat, and they feel comfortable in performing worship.

In addition to renovating the rumah sejahtera, the district also provides free rice or beras sejatera (prosperous rice) every month as much as 15 kilograms.

To renovate a thousand houses HSS allocates about Rp13 billion budget, and Rp6 billion/year for free rice for 15 thousand poor families.

“All the help given merely for the welfare of citizens. It does not matter funds expended a lot, what is important the public be more prosperous,” he explained.

Previously, the Regent attended home renovation which was funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by the local water taps company (PDAM).

The CSR assistance was symbolically handed over by the regent to Asmah, villager of Tebing Tinggi, Sub-district of Simpur, and Mahdianoor, villager of Amawang Kiri, Sub-district of Kandangan.

According to Head of HSS Social Agency H Siti Erma, home renovation through CSR funds were given for four houses in the sub-district of Simpur, Kandangan, Nagara, and Loksado. The assistance given by Rp.13.908.000 per house plus WC.

Today, home renovation program for poor citizens not only by government but also some related agencies such as the PKK (Family Welfare Movement), state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and others.
