KUCHING: Santubong MP Dato Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar will be submitting three names to Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg today for consideration to be PBB/BN’s candidate for Tanjong Datu.

Speaking to The Borneo Post, Wan Junaidi, who is election director for the Tanjong Datu by-election, said the three names were endorsed by PBB Tanjong Datu.

However, he declined to reveal the names, stating that Abang Johari would announce the candidate after making a decision.

“No. Sorry I can’t give you the names until CM (Abang Johari) sees it. It is up to him to decide,” he said.

The Tanjung Datu by-election will be held following the passing of the late Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

The Election Commission (EC) recently announced Feb 18 as the by-election date for Tanjong Datu.

Nomination of candidates will be held on Feb 4, while early voting will take place on Feb 12.

In the last state election, Adenan retained the Tanjong Datu seat with a comfortable win of 6,360 votes over PKR’s Jazolkipli Numan, who only managed to poll 468 votes.
