KUALA LUMPUR: For those making the long journey back to their hometowns this Chinese New Year and in need of a coffee break, the ‘PETRONAS COFFEE BREAK’ campaign will be distributing 600,000 cups of freshly brewed hot coffee and snacks to recharge commuters come this festive season.

The campaign — in the 18th year running and organised by PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) in collaboration with the Road Safety Department — would also reinforce road safety messages with ‘Seven Road Safety Tips’ at Petronas stations nationwide.

Some 121 Petronas stations alongside highways, trunk roads and high traffic areas will be participating in the campaign from Jan 28 to Jan 29 and Jan 30 to Jan 31, 2017 from 2pm onwards while stock lasts.

Its managing director and chief executive officer Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunos said PDB would also collaborate with its partners to provide safety-related services such as a 20-point safety inspections on Proton cars carried out by the Proton team and health checks.

“These are all available for free and is part of our yearly campaign by PDB during the Hari Raya and Chinese New Year celebrations.

“Our road safety tips is something new from us to all road users and will serve as a good reminder, enhance safety and more mindful driving that can prevent accidents and save lives,” he said.

Meanwhile, PDB would also sponsor RM20,000 worth of fuel for St John’s Ambulance of Malaysia (SJAM) to provide assistance to motorists travelling on major highways. — Bernama
