KOTA KINABALU: The Board of Governors of Institut Sinaran paid a courtesy visit to the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, Kota Kinabalu, Chen Peijie to wish her and other members of the consulate  a prosperous Chinese New Year.

Chen had a fruitful discussion with the vice chairlady of the Board of Governors of Institut Sinaran cum Public Relations Committee chairman, Datuk Nancy Ho, the CEO, Marie Yong, and four other members of  the Board of Governors, Michael Cheng, Jackwite Lee, Jimmy Chu and Sucie Chong about education and the challenges that students and teachers face in the 21st century.

Both parties agreed that education is central to improving quality of life – education raises the economic status of families; it improves life conditions, and improves the educational attainment of the next generation, thereby raising the next generation’s chances for economic and social well-being.

Institut Sinaran, formerly known as Sabah Tshung Tsin Pre-University Centre, is a premier private higher institution in Sabah established  in 1987 by the Hakka Association, Kota Kinabalu, with the aim to provide affordable, internationally recognized pre-university qualifications for the local community.

It is the largest Cambridge A-level centre in East Malaysia and has been successful in producing world-class graduates. The recent published Cambridge A-level results have indicated a major leap in the academic performance of the students.

In line with the institute’s mission to provide the best education opportunities for its students, Institut Sinaran hopes to foster new linkages and networking in China to further raise the standard of education this year of the rooster.

The delegation was very thankful for the support shown by the Consul General and her team. Advice and suggestions given to identify potential educational institutions in China to link up with was much appreciated.
