SARIKEI: A landslide following continuous rain on Sunday damaged the back portion of seven units of Rumah Maying, Entaih in Pakan, some 80 km from here.

None of the 34 affected occupants were injured in the incident.

According to the residents, although minor, the landslide at the 30-door longhouse was still a terrifying experience.

They said this was the second landslide experienced by the longhouse after a similar disaster in December 2015.

A team led by Pakan District Officer Irwan Abdullah visited the site on Tuesday to assess the situation.

Irwan expressed relief that no one was hurt by the landslide.

He called on the Public Works Department to clean up the mess and reconstruct terracing around the hill to prevent landslides from recurring in future.
