KUCHING: Semop assemblyman Abdullah Saidol yesterday expressed his appreciation to Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg for retaining him as the chief political secretary to the chief minister.

He said it gave him great honour and privilege to serve as the chief political secretary under three different chief ministers since he was appointed to the post in 2012 when Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud was the fourth chief minister.

“I thank Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg for his continued trust in me. Insya-Allah, I will serve with clean integrity according to my personal motto that is ‘kesungguhan, kerajinan dan keberanian’ (sincerity, diligence and courage),” he said.

Abdullah said the Chief Minister had told him to remind all the political secretaries to improve their performance by being more attentive to the sentiments and problems faced by the people, especially those in the rural areas.

“The Chief Minister wants them to be well informed and take cognisance of the current political developments as well as objectives of government policies, so that they can explain to the people.

“As for my advice, I will manage the work of all the political secretaries more strictly to ensure their roles are relevant. I will also make sure a working culture which is of integrity, and they do not abuse their position for their own benefit,” he said.
