KUCHING: Wife of the Head of State Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib paid a visit on the widow of the late Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem at her residence in Damai Jaya, Santubong yesterday.

Raghad was accompanied by the chief minister’s wife Datin Amar Dato Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, the wife of Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, Trade and Investment and Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Dato Dayang Morliah Awang Daud and other Sabati (Wives of State Ministers, Assistant Ministers and State Legislative Assembly) members.

Raghad congratulated Jamilah on her nomination by the state BN to be the candidate for Tanjong Datu by-election, which was announced by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The nomination will be held on Feb 4 and polling on Feb 18.

The by-election is held following the demise of the incumbent Datuk Patinggi Adenan Satem on Jan 11.

Raghad is confident that Jamilah, who has been moving around the constituency with her late husband, would be in the best position to continue the services, vision and legacy of Adenan.

Raghad, who has the privilege of knowing Jamilah as a humble and friendly person but serious in doing voluntary work and social activities, believed she could interact with the people with ease.

She said Jamilah had been standing unwaveringly in her support of her husband and was the correct candidate to retain Tanjong Datu for Barisan Nasional.
