KUCHING: The Rotary Club of Kuching Central will hold a charity run from CityOne Megamall here on February 26 beginning at 6.30 am.

Rotarians from the club yesterday paid a courtesy call on Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dato Sri Nancy Shukri to officially invite her to be the guest of honour to flag-off the run.

Club president Clarence Yong, who led the delegation, explained to Nancy that the Rotary Charity Run 2017 was to raise funds for their signature projects to do good for the local community.

The Rotary Club of Kuching Central has been involved in cataract operations, installing solar power and clean water systems and providing school kits for the lower income families in rural Sarawak over the last few years and hopes to continue doing so.

The charity run organising chairperson Leonard Sia said the club was targeting 3,000 participants for the run which is divided into three categories; 2km, 5km, and 8km runs.

All participants will receive a goodie bag and an exclusively designed finisher’s medal. The race shirt comes in neon pink or mint green but is subject to availability of sizes on a first-come first-served basis.  Participants will also receive an Ultron drawstring bag.

By popular request, the registration deadline has been extended to February 20.

Those who are interested can register online at www.kuchingcentralrotary.org/rotaryrun2017 or refer to the club’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/kuchingcentral for a list of locations for manual registration.
