KUCHING: FAM League newcomers Kuching are eagerly awaiting action after being drawn in Group B with seven other teams.
Team manager Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the players are all set for their campaign which commences on Feb 19.
The Tupong state assemblyman said strong teamwork and fighting spirit will be Kuching’s strengths in its mission to reach the quarter-finals of the 3rd tier competition of the Malaysian League. Kuching were promoted into the FAM League after they emerged champions in last year’s 4th tier Liga Rakyat.
“We do expect the team to face stiff competition but I think the ‘atmosphere’ in the camp have shown that the boys are in top spirit as we are joining the FAM League for the first time.
“I am confident that the high spirit and commitment among the players apart from the training and strategy planned by the coach will help Kuching pose a solid challenge in this competition,” he said.
He also appealed for strong support from the supporters to motivate the Kuching players.
Kuching are draw with Air Asia All-Stars FC, SAMB FC, Sungai Ara FC, Terengganu City FC, PBMS FC, Sime Darby FC and Penjara FC in Group B.
“Our main mission is to stay in the FAM League and qualify for the last eight.
“This is not an impossible task although we admit that our passage would not be so smooth as there are teams in the group who were the semi-finalists last year,” added Fazzrudin.
Kuching’s matches will be played every Sunday afternoon at Stadium Negeri, Petra Jaya.
The Kuching squad comprises Ahmad Shakri Tuah, Mohd Saiful Kamel Jamel, Mohamad Fareez Tukijo, Mansor Keram, Wan Aminuddin Wan Mahmud, Mohd Izzuddin Jahidin, Awang Mohd Tarmizi Awang Mahdini, Sufizal Ismail, Mohamad Asrullah Drahman, Mohammad Khairul Eshak, Mohamad Zakaria Ishak, Remenor Pit, Zambery Zainal, Zulmizan Bujang, Ismail Bujang, Mohd Zufika Mustapha, Iqmal Mustaqkim Kamrodin, Mohammad Muizzuddin Muqri Mazelan, Rafiezan Razali, Razziman Razali, Nazaruddin Bohri, Mohammad Shafitri Salim, Nasyirat Mustaqim Sepawi, Muhammad Farhan Yusuf and Mohd Arif Azizan Ederis.
They are coached by Sahrizan Sahari assisted by Ideris Untong and Roslan Madlan. Iswandi Ali Hassan is the assistant team manager.
