KUCHING: Kolej Sunway Kuching yesterday celebrated both Chinese New Year and their seventh consecutive year as the first and only ACCA Approved Learning Partner (ALP) award with Platinum Status in East Malaysia.

According to their Marketing and Sales assistant manager Steven Tan, they have retained the award since 2010.

“For Platinum, you have to go through two assessments in a year — Institute Management, and ACCA course management and delivery. If you fail one, it’s no longer a consecutive win,” he explained to reporters.

Platinum is the highest and most prestigious level of approval granted by Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) to learning providers.

Also important is the student passing rate, added Tan.

“In order to meet the platinum standard, you have to maintain a passing rate of above world average,” he said.

Kolej Sunway Kuching has a reputation of producing high achievers which surpasses the world pass rate, with eight Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) World Prize Winners, 22 ACCA and CAT Malaysian Prize Winners, 22 ACCA Affiliates, 749 CAT Finalists and many more top achievers.

The Chinese New Year open house saw the traditional lion dance performance and many of the college’s associates being feted to a buffet lunch.

Present at the celebration were Kolej Sunway Kuching chief executive officer Joseph Lim, Tegas chief operating officer Awangku Merali Pengiran Mohamed, and former Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie.
