SANDAKAN: The people here, particularly Muslims, will benefit from the Libaran Islamic Centre Complex located near the Sri Libaran Hall, Mile 7 once it is completed in 2019.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman yesterday said that the Islamic Centre estimated to cost RM60 million, would be built in a 13-acre site.

“I believe with the establishment of this centre, it would not only benefit residents in this district but also people in the State.

“Therefore, I will ensure the construction of this centre will be carried out  smoothly and completed on schedule in 2019,” he said to reporters after visiting the site of the complex.

Earlier, Musa had also met with residents in Kampung Padas for the “Pemimpin Menjiwai Rakyat” Program at the multi-purpose hall of Kampung Padas.

Also present were Assistant  Local Government and Housing Minister cum Gum-Gum assemblyman Datuk Zakaria Haji Mohd Edris, Libaran member of parliament Datuk Juslie Ajirol, State Wanita Umno chief Datuk Armani Haji Mahiruddin, Sandakan Municipal Council president Datuk James Wong and District Education Officer Sh Mahada ShAttar.

At the ceremony, Musa presented 150 school bags to pupils and 200 chairs to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Padas.

He also announced an allocation to repair and upgrade the multipurpose hall of Kampung Padas.

Meanwhile, to maximize the security level in Libaran area, Musa urged the relevant authorities to expedite the establishment of a control post at Kuala Luboh located within the Libaran area.
