KUCHING: A renowned entrepreneur, innovator and collaboration strategist will conduct his session on ‘Innovate Yourself Towards Your Dream’ during this year’s Borneo Post International Education Fair (BPIEF) taking place at Vivacity Megamall here this March 11 and 12.

Zaiwin Kassim, 36, is chairman of Koperasi Belia Inovatif Sarawak Bhd (Kobis) – a state cooperative organisation focusing on youth development in the areas of skills, innovation and entrepreneurship.

He is a frequent speaker at functions and seminars on the subjects of innovation, entrepreneurship and career enhancement such as the Sarawak Career and Training (ScaT) Fair and the ‘Gathering of Rising Entrepreneurs, Act Together’ (Great) – both held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching last year – as well as the  International Conference of Young Leaders (ICYL) at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur in 2013.

In 2010, Zaiwin was acknowledged as one of several accomplished individuals featured on ‘Malaysian Innovator’ – a publication of Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) endorsed by Malaysia Association of Creativity and Innovation (Macri) and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti).

Zaiwin had also received several awards in recognition of his work including the Asean Young Entrepreneurs Award (Social Enterprise) at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, and the Asean-China Outstanding Youth Award (Malaysia) at Vientiane, Laos – both in 2015.

He was named the ‘Youth Innovation Icon’ at the state-level Youth Day in 2014.

Zaiwin also represented Malaysia at the Commonwealth Asia Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs (Caaye) Summit in Colombo, Sri Lanka and Mumbai, India.

He recently joined several Malaysians for the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) programme in Japan.

After having attended the TEDxMerdekaSquare 2013 as well as the TEDxKL in 2015 and last year, Zaiwin conducted the inaugural TEDxYouth@Kenyalang last November themed ‘Today for Tomorrow’.

“By using trans-disciplinary lens, a variety of systems and subjects were explored. Shaped by their incredible stories and ideas, our speakers explored paradigms in the hope to inspire, empower and motivate participants to embrace new perspectives,” said Zaiwin, also the curator of TEDxYouth@Kenyalang.

The young innovator obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics from Universiti Tun Hussien Onn.

“The objective of this talk is to inspire and motivate students to innovate themselves, to become better and more prepared towards their journey of achieving their dreams. Good students aim for their exams, but great students aim for their dreams.

“Innovate yourself across various aspects, identify your strengths and weaknesses, as well your skills and mindsets – all that matters for your dreams,” Zaiwin said.
