Kedah stay on top, Crocs move out of danger

KUALA LUMPUR: Kedah remained top of the Super League after a comfortable 3-1 win over bottom side Penang at Darul Aman Stadium yesterday.

Penang started brightly, opening the score through striker Mohamad Faiz Subri in the 19th minute, however Mohd Fitri Omar equalised for Kedah three minutes later.

Relentless attacks by the Red Hawks in the second half paid off when Syafiq Ahmad scored their second in the 75th minute.

Liridon Krasniqi scored the Red Hawks third goal in the 86th minute to send the Panthers packing 3-1.

Meanwhile, Melaka United were humiliated 3-0 by Pahang in another match at Hang Jebat Stadium.

The Elephants opened their account through Joseph Kalang Tie’s screamer in the 21st minute, while Matheus Alves Leandro and Muhamadou Sumareh added salt to injury over Eric William’s side with goals in the 43rd and 56th minutes.

Meanwhile, the Southern Tigers, Johor Darul Ta’zim returned to winning ways after Argentine striker Gabriel Miguel Guerra notched up a hat-trick to down T-Team 3-0.

Gabriel Guerra was in scintillating form since kick-off, scoring his three goals in the 9th, 30th and 39th minutes.

Meanwhile, Sarawak moved up to mid-table after beating PKNS FC 3-2 in a match at Shah Alam Stadium.

Sarawak’s three goals were contributed by Mateo Roskam in the 18th minute, Mark Hartmann (60th minute) and Hafiz Abu Bakar (64th), while PKNS FC’s Lucas Espindola put in their first in the 55th minute with Khairul Ramadhan Zauwawi adding the second in the 90th.

At Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Pahang, Perak squandered their chance to collect three points after allowing Felda United to come back, finishing the game 2-2.

Perak went ahead in the 13th minute through Hafiz Kamal’s strike before Mohd Zaquan Adha Abd Razak doubled the lead for ‘The Bos Gaurus’ in the 51st minute.

However, Felda bounced back to score two goals in two minutes through Norshahrul Idlan Talaha (67th) and Matias Cano (68th).

In the meantime, Kelantan suffered their third straight defeat, losing 0-2 to Selangor at Sultan Mohammad IV Stadium.

Brazilian-born Juliano Mineiro Fernandes contributed both goals for the Red Giants in the third and 63rd minutes. — Bernama
