SEREMBAN: The National Transformation 2050 (TN50) initiative launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak requires the involvement and views of all communities from all levels of society, said Deputy Education Minister Datuk Chong Sin Woon.

He said the country’s bigger agenda would not succeed if it only involved one community.

“The TN50 is being prepared for the future generations.

“If we still follow today’s reference, it will not be a policy which has the support of youths. So we need to listen to the voice of the younger generation.

“TN50 will not be successful if it only considers the views and support of one community, but has to take into account the views of all, only then can we get a formula which can really take us forward in the next 30 years,” he told Bernama here recently.

TN50, launched on Jan 19, was initiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as a policy to map the country’s future for a period of 30 years after 2020.

Chong said the TN50 needed a platform where everyone could discuss it together.

“This is a very important platform, where if we can discuss the most sensitive things, maybe we can produce the best formula to shape the Malaysia we want.

“I hope this can be implemented, but behind closed doors rather than on live telecast,” he said.

As MCA Youth chief, he said he would gather the aspirations of young people among the Chinese community to be included in the TN50.

“We have discussed with Chinese youth organisations that we cannot be left behind from giving suggestions and views.

“So we (MCA Youth) will hold dialogues, talks, seminars for us to gather and bring the aspirations and views of the Chinese community into TN50,” he said. — Bernama
