KUCHING: Tadika St Faith is mindful of the legacy of the church in the regime of education even before the country’s independence; thus, the kindergarten accepts the challenge in doing its best to fulfil its mission.

Its chairman Darrell Tsen Nyuk Choi said the newly-established kindergarten building would provide a very good environment for the process and success of the kindergarten’s endeavour to provide sound pre-school education.

“Our vision for the future will be towards higher attainment of excellence and to provide quality education beyond the pre-school level,” he said.

He cited the Anglican Bishop of Kuching Rt Rev Datuk Bolly Lapok, quoting: “We will start with a kindergarten and hopefully, it will grow in the future. We are reclaiming what the church was doing in the beginning. So that is the trust of the Diocesan family on your shoulder.”

He thanked the Bishop for his confidence in the kindergarten and said they would work hard.

“We also want to thank all for the donations in cash and kind for the successful completion of the new kindergarten building. This dinner is a small token of appreciation for your contribution. Without your contribution and participation in the efforts, it might not be possible to have the building now.”

He said this in his opening remarks during the St Faith Kindergarten thanksgiving dinner held at the Christian Ecumenical Centre recently.

Meanwhile, The Vicar of St Faith The Venerable Canon Nelson Ugas noted that the project was challenging for St Faith’s Church. However, the completion of the new kindergarten building has changed the vicinity of St Faith’s Church while sticking to its fundamental goal in serving the community at Kenyalang Park and beyond.

“The purpose of the event is to celebrate and to give thanks for the completion of the new Tadika St Faith and also for us to say thank you to the church, the kindergarten and to all generous donors and supporters,” he said.

On the same note, Bolly said as while this marked the completion of the vision and dream of the past, the journey would still be on-going.

“He (Nelson) has accepted the challenge and that he, including the members of the committee, would undertake to expand the kindergarten….. May I wish this journey to continue, may you have adventure along the way and be rewarded.

“In the course of your journey there will be opposition; watch out of the opposition as they come from within.”

On a different note, Bolly took the opportunity to express his gratitude to all as he would be ending his tenure as the Anglican Archbishop for the Province of Southeast Asia

“This is the last phase of my ministry. I call it a sunset of my ministry. I wish to take this opportunity to say goodbye to the children, parishioners; goodbye to you my friends as the Lord has bless me through you, may you be blessed,” he said.

Also present were the Bishop’s wife Datin Mary Jean and Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth Central publicity secretary Milton Foo who represented Ministry of Local Government Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
