SIBU: A female security guard of a factory in Sungai Bidut left behind a note asking the public to adopt her dog after her death from an alleged suicide by hanging in her bedroom yesterday.

The woman was found by her colleagues at 7.30am when she failed to turn up for work.

When the police came, they found a note she left behind for the adoption of her pet.

The police believed she was suffering from depression, while her colleagues said she did not look happy prior to the hanging and asked her colleagues to adopt her dog.

The woman, a widow, was from Kapit.

Her children are living elsewhere in Sarawak.

She had been staying alone and had kept a dog as her loyal friend and companion.

She used to operate a hawker stall in Kapit but had to move down to Sibu to work because of poor business.

According to her colleagues, the woman had worked at a printing plant in town, but, it was not convenient to keep her dog there.

She later found a job at a Sungai Bidut factory and her boss allowed her to keep the dog in the hostel, where she stayed in a downstairs room of the stilted house provided by her boss.

A colleague said for the two years the woman was working there, her dog had followed her to work every morning and returned with her in the evening.

“The dog has been her loyal companion. She kept it clean and healthy. Her colleagues all liked the dog.”

Her boss has indicated that he was willing to adopt the dog and care for it.

When the police took the woman’s body to the hospital mortuary, the dog just looked on.

Sibu police chief ACP Saiful Bahri Abdullah confirmed the case.
