KAPIT: Kapit OCPD DSP Freddy Bian yesterday confirmed that 72-year-old Buda Win from Rumah Gawan Tuan, Lepong Baleh who went missing last Saturday was found on Tuesday at around 12.15pm.

He said Buda was found safe and sound by the search and rescue (SAR) team and had been sent to the Kapit Hospital by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) for medical check-up.

“The search and rescue parties comprising the police, Bomba, Rela and longhouse folks found him safe except that he was very weak and extremely exhausted.

“They found him sitting along a small stream in the valley a few kilometres from his longhouse on the other side of Jalan Mujong. He was carried on the shoulder by the SAR personnel as he was too weak to walk,” said Freddy when approached by the press.

The SAR operation to find Buda was launched on Saturday and continued until he was found yesterday.

Freddy took the opportunity to thank all those involved in the SAR operation.

Buda left his house at around 8am on March 3 to look for edible jungle vegetables (daun sabong) in the nearby forest.

His family lodged a police report the following day after he failed to return home, prompting the police, Bomba, Rela and volunteers from Rumah Gawan Tuan to immediately launch a SAR operation to look for him.
