BETONG: The remains of a crocodile attack victim at Sungai Undey in Pusa on Wednesday were found about 10.10am yesterday.

The victim was  identified as Besimilah Rajali, 46, from Kampung Hilir Tambak, Pusa. The body was found with several crocodile bite marks on the face and hands about 50 metres from where the incident happened.

Assistant director (operation) of the state Fire and Rescue Department, Tiong Ling Hii, said the body had been handed over to the police who later sent it to Betong Hospital for further action.

“The search and rescue operation (SAR) was launched soon after the incident was reported to us. We received a report from Pusa Police Station that there was a crocodile attack at Sungai Undey, Pusa,” he said.

Fire and Rescue Dept and Civil Defence Force immediately dispatched their personnel to the scene after the incident was reported to have happened about 4pm Wednesday. The SAR operation was called off at 7.30pm Wednesday due to fading light and was resumed at 7am yesterday.
