MIRI: The PPA1M Melia Residences @ Parkcity Eastwood here, launched by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg over the weekend, is testament of the government catering for the needs of civil servants.

Built under the 1Malaysia Civil Servants’ Housing Project (PPA1M) scheme, the initiative is much welcomed by civil servants here who have taken up 591 out of the 817 units available.

The launching ceremony was attended by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa, Samling Group CEO Datuk Seri Yaw Chee Ming, Assistant Minister of Housing Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Gani.

Strategically located at the Eastwood Valley satellite township between the city centre and Miri Airport, Melia Residences is built over an area of 89 acres along the Pan Borneo Highway in the midst of various upcoming premium modern facilities in the neighbourhood. Each double-storey unit offers four bedrooms.

Principal assistant secretary of the PPA1M unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, Mursyidul Syafiq Marzuki, said 226 units of the double storey terraced houses were still available.

Priced at RM300,000 per unit, he said the houses were affordable as reflected by the 722 applications from civil servants in the low and middle income groups.

Closed on December 31 last year, applications for the PPA1M houses re-opened after the opening ceremony last Saturday. Applications can also be done online.

PPA1M is a government programme to provide quality affordable homes for civil servants at 30 per cent below market price.

The PPA1M Melia Residences @ Parkcity Eastwood is the first project here undertaken by PPA1M and developer Pantai Bayu Indah Sdn Bhd.

Pantai Bayu Indah is a subsidiary of Perdana ParkCity Sdn Bhd, the developer of Kuala Lumpur’s award-winning Desa ParkCity.

It is also the developer of Miri Marina City and the RM40-million Miri Central Park and the Eastwood Valley comprising residential, commercial and industrial components set amidst wide open spaces and landscaped gardens and parks.

The Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club is nestled in the beautiful landscaped Eastwood Valley.
