A rescuer breaks the rear window of the car to get to the trapped girl.

MIRI: A two-year-old girl was trapped for almost an hour in her mother’s car at Desa Senadin here yesterday before she was finally rescued.

Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station chief Terry Robson Forance Nyanggau said the station received a distress call at 8.01am from the mother and arrived at the scene 25 minutes later.

After failing to persuade the girl to open the locked door, the rescuers had to break the rear glass window of the car to get her out.

It is understood that the girl was trapped in the car when her mother got out to close and lock the gate of their house.

It was then that the car got locked with the girl inside and fortunately enough, the air-conditioner was on.

The girl was then handed to the mother.
