SMK Chung Hua salute their stars at MSSS Meet

MIRI: SMK Chung Hua here ranks among the top track and field schools in Miri and Sarawak. Eight of their athletes representing Miri at the 45th MSS Sarawak Track and Field Championship have already bagged four gold and four silver medals. That was the tally up until Friday afternoon.

According to its principal Wong King Kui, the school contributed 42 athletes to the 157-strong contingent representing Miri at the state schools championship which started last Wednesday.

“We are proud that one of our athletes, Ng Jin Xuan, broke the record in the Girls U14 javelin with a distance of 32.31m,” he said.

“Not only Ng achieved extremely well in sports, she is also an achiever in academic and co-curricular activities including as runner-up in 22nd National –level Tang Soo Do competition in which she won a silver and two bronzes,” Wong added in a press statement yesterday.

Veralyna Bill, daughter of deceased politician and social activist Bill Kayong, also won a gold in the 200m hurdles for Girls U15.

Over 1,000 student athletes from 12 divisions took part in the four-day state-level meet which ended in Kuching yesterday.
