Eight firms win global CSR awards

LANGKAWI: Eight Malaysian companies bagged 12 awards at the 9th Global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Summit and Awards and the Global Good Governance Awards 2017 here.

YTL Corporation Bhd (YTL) led the winners pact with two Platinum Awards for the Best Environmental Excellence Award and Excellence in Provision of Literacy and Education Award for companies with less than US$1 billion market capital respectively.

Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) won two gold awards for the Best Community Programme Award for companies with more than US$1 billion market capital and the Best Workplace Practices Award.

Kulim Malaysia Bhd won Gold for the Empowerment of Women and two Bronze awards for the Best Workplace Practices and CSR Leadership Award for companies with more than US$1 billion market capital respectively.

Other winners were Sarawak Energy (Best Community Programme Award – companies with more than US$1 billion market capital – Gold Award), Ajinomoto Malaysia (Best Community Programme Award – Companies with less than US$1 billion market capital – Silver Award).

RHB Banking Group won the Best Governed & Most Transparent Company – Silver Award, Maybank Foundation (Best Community Programme Award – Companies with more than US$1 billion market capital – Bronze Award), and CIMB Niaga (Excellence in Provision of Literacy and Education Award – Companies with more than US$1 billion market capital – Bronze Award).

In a statement today, Global CSR Summit & Awards Co-Global Events Director, Melvin Chan said 146 companies from around the world submitted their entries for 38 awards being contested.

“The event is among the few global award programmes which do not accept sponsorship from companies submitting their nominations,” he added. — Bernama
