KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian diving squad will most likely return home without silverware from the FINA World Diving Series in Kazan, Russia.

Nur Dhabitah Sabri and Pandelela Rinong continued their below par performance to finish in the bottom two place in the final round of the women’s 10m individual platform event tonight.

The 17 year-old diver took fifth place after accumulating 333.75 points, while 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist Pandelela ended in last place with 325.70 points.

Diving powerhouse China continued their dominance when Ren Qian and Si Yajie bagged gold and silver respectively after scoring 394.35 and 382.90 points.

Mexico’s Viviana Del Angel Peniche (349.55 points) won the bronze while Canada’s Meaghan Benfeito (344.95 points) finished in fourth place.

The first day of the competition yesterday saw Nur Dhabitah/Pandelela ending fourth in the women’s 10m synchronised platform while Ng Yan Yee/Nur Dhabitah ended in fifth place in the women’s 3m synchronised springboard.

Yan Yee will be the country’s sole representative to compete in the women’s 3m individual springboard board in the last day tomorrow. — Bernama
