KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia Berhad’s (TM) award-winning IPTV service HyppTV has welcomed tvN Movies, the world’s first and only Korean blockbuster movie channel, to Malaysia.

The channel is now available on HyppTV (Channel 222), as well as the HyppTV Everywhere mobile app.

To celebrate the launch and in support of the Korean movie industry, tvN Movies held a gala premiere of the action crime film ‘Fabricated City’, and flew multi-talented actor Ji Chang-wook to Malaysia for the first time.

The event was attended by local and Singapore media together with the lucky winners of HyppTV’s ‘Meet Ji Chang-Wook’ i-contest, which ran on the platform from April 1-5.

TM New Media Business and Media Operations vice-president Emily Wee and CJ E&M HK chief executive officer Samey Lee were present at the event.

Ji also made a special surprise appearance at a cocktail reception hosted by tvN Movies held prior to the gala.

Wee said the addition of another world class channel is to cater to the growing number of HyppTV viewers.

“The new channel was introduced to our subscribers on April 1 recently together in addition with five other fresh Indian entertainment channels and one Indonesian entertainment channel on HyppTV, which also includes a one-month free viewing period for customers to enjoy in conjunction with HyppTV’s seventh year anniversary,” she said.

Lee said following the launch of tvN Movies in Singapore, the launch of tvN Movies in Malaysia, first with HyppTV, is another promising milestone.

“We believe that Korean content is in high demand, in particular, movies. By introducing tvN Movies, we hope to tap the enormous audience base with a diverse cultural background, delivering them an all-Korean movies home-cinema experience. We are confident that the collaboration between tvN Movies and HyppTV will generate fruitful results. tvN Movies will strive to expand its service coverage and offerings to other Southeast Asian markets.”

‘Fabricated City’, helmed by a multiple award-winning director Park Kwang-hyun, marks Ji’s feature film debut as lead actor.

HyppTV customers can enjoy blockbusters and all-time favourite Korean movies in all genres round-the-clock on tvN Movies (HyppTV Channel 222).

The channel introduces Korean movies to audiences in Malaysia by delivering top grossing, all-time favourite, and award-winning Korean films to the comfort of their homes.

The channel is available as part of the HyppTV Jumbo Pack (RM60 per month), HyppTV Ruby Pack (RM40 per month), HyppTV Aneka Pack (RM30 per month), or as an a la carte option at RM15 per month.

tvN Movies is also available on the HyppTV Everywhere app, which can be downloaded on Android’s Play Store or Apple’s App Store.

HyppTV customers can enjoy tvN Movies for free this month in conjunction with HyppTV’s seventh anniversary.
