KOTA SAMARAHAN: Aiman Mall at Jalan Datuk Muhammad Musa here is expected to be declared open by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg at 10.30am on Apr 22.

Its managing director Lee Chin Teck, who announced this, said the shopping mall spread over 140,000 square feet that is owned by Aiman Mantap Sdn Bhd has more than 100 tenants.

He described the new landmark at Kota Samarahan, costing RM30 million to build, as a brand new suburb mall.

“The mall is 100 per cent tenanted and the biggest anchor tenant is H&L Supermarket occupying 30,000 square feet, followed by DIY shop and commercial departmental store Grand Super Mart (GSM) with both occupying a space of 10,000 square feet each,” he said at the press conference held at After 4 Kopitiam.Aiman Mall, here yesterday.

“The environment here is just like Starbucks but the price is just like Kopitiam,” he added.

Lee said the H&L Supermarket in Aiman Mall is probably the biggest among its branches in the state.

“This place is meant for small entrepreneurs but there is room for expansion and our target customers are the 40,000 students studying at the two universities and a teaching college nearby – namely Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and Universiti Institut Teknologi  Mara  (UiTM) and a teaching institute,” he said.

He disclosed that they will spend RM250,000 on the grand opening and there will be a lot of activities during that day.

“Among the morning events will be a fashion show by a local fashion designer during the grand opening lunch at the mall. In the evening, the highlight will be a night concert with invited artistes from Indonesia; namely Bervinta Ariansyah, Lissa V and D Cipta Band,” he said.

Aiman Mall chairman Samat Othman said they expected three to five thousand visitors during the grand opening day but ‘at night we expect that there will be 50,000 to 60,000 thousand visitors’.

“Looking at this crowd, we advise that visitors car-pool to avoid the full parking spaces and traffic jam,” he added.

“The shopping mall is ideal for low income group and that is the reason we have GSM as one of the commercial retail stores to serve this group,” he further said.

In addition, the mall will have fully covered street food stalls called ‘Makan Sari Street Food’ which can easily accommodate 1,000 people at one time, Samat said.

“As a suburb mall, it will serve the community of Kota Samarahan and the nearby areas, he added.
