SEMPORNA: The state government led by the Barisan Nasional (BN) is always committed in developing Sabah, including Semporna.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman said the government not only emphasized the physical and economic development, but also the religious aspect.

Musa who is also Sabah Umno Liaison Chairman, said when Bugaya assemblyman Datuk Ramlee Marahaban met him to ask for Yayasan Sabah’s land in Bugaya to be allocated for the development of Semporna Academy of Al Quran Learning (APAQS), he immediately agreed.

He said the government always listened to the people and any development that is good for the people is good for the government too.

“Our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak and Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also never hesitated to approve my application for the needs of the people in Sabah, including Semporna.

“This is why we are different from other parties that go to the villages and create slander to confuse people, including saying that Yayasan Sabah is dying and bankrupt,” he said in his speech at the APAQS opening ceremony officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday.

According to Musa, Yayasan Sabah currently owned more than RM14 billion assets and RM420 million in cash, which shows that Yayasan Sabah under the BN government provides various platforms to assist the people.

He said this included allocating the land and building for the APAQS which is in line with government efforts to develop Sabah, including Semporna.

He hopes the establishment of APAQS will be used by the people to improve their knowledge about learning the Quran.

Also present were Senallang assemblyman Datuk Nasir Tun Sakaran, Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Ramlee Marahaban who is also Bugaya assemblyman and Semporna District Officer Dr Chaco Haji Bullah.
