Awang Hamdan Awang Sharbini, 31, of Kampung Sinar Budi Baru in Batu Kawa appeared before Magistrate Zulhairil Sulaiman who convicted him on his own guilty plea.

For the first case, Awang Hamdan was sentenced to four years’ jail after he admitted to have entered a house at Jalan Cenderawasih here about 2.30pm on Aug 7, 2014.

For two other cases, he was sentenced to three years’ jail for breaking into a fast food restaurant at Mile 3, Central Park about 7.50am on Feb 19.

The court imposed another 18 months’ jail on him for stealing two gas canisters from the premises. For the theft, he was convicted under Section 414 of the Penal Code and under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house-breaking. The court ordered all the custodial sentences to run  concurrently.  In the same court room, a man was sentenced to three months’ jail after he pleaded guilty to causing hurt to his sister.

The court was told that the victim lodged a police report after she was hit by the accused while they were having a late breakfast at home.  She said her brother talked nonsense while they were having breakfast and later took a mop and put it on her plate. When she got up from her seat, her brother hit her with the mop.  He was convicted under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
