KUCHING: Sarawak’s Demerson Bruno Costa may have a new role to play following an outstanding performance during the Super League match against Perak at Stadium Negeri last Saturday.

Head coach David Usop said the Brazilian defender may now play in the midfield after helping the Crocs to a 3-3 draw with Perak.

“Demerson looks to have great potential in playing as the midfielder after being tested in the match against Perak last week.

“He is hardworking and has contributed greatly in helping our attacking force move forward,” said David, who will continue to test the Brazilian’s capability in the coming matches.

He said if Demerson continues to show consistency in his game, he should be playing permanently in that position.

Meanwhile, winger Nur Shamie Iszuan Amin will not see action in the second leg of the FA Cup quarterfinals against Terengganu tonight as he has yet to recover from an ankle injury.

“Shamie has not recovered fully and is forced to rest again on Friday,” said David.

Replacing Shamie will be Abdul Rahim Abdul Razak who played well and scored a goal against Perak.

He also assisted Mateo Roskam for the team’s first goal as well as executing the free kick of which Hairol Mohktar converted for Sarawak’s second goal.

Meanwhile, hosts Sarawak has an excellent chance of  advancing to the last four of the FA Cup after holding Terengganu to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the quarterfinals earlier this month.

The match will be played at Stadium Negeri at 8.15pm.
