TAWAU: Seven persons were injured when a police truck ferrying 28 students to the police cadet corps campsite in Kudat crashed in Bukit Ular, Jalan Sapi Nangoh in Kota Marudu on Wednesday.

District police chief ACP Fadil bin Hj Marsus yesterday said  that in the 5.20pm incident, the driver lost control of the police truck at a sharp bend, resulting in the vehicle landing on its side.

“Among the 28 students, aged 14-17 years, seven sustained minor injuries and were sent to the nearest hospital in Kota Marudu for further treatment.

“All the students are covered by insurance and have filled the parental consent forms,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

Fadil said the police truck was part of the convoy of six vehicles from the Tawau District Police Headquarters on its way from Tawau to attend the police cadet corps camp in Kudat, with a total of 74 police cadets, six teachers and eight policemen.
