SIBU: A suspected drug addict set fire to her own kitchen at Tiong Hua Road Lane 9 this morning.

The 37-year old woman was believed to be hallucinating and reportedly started the fire in the kitchen to ward off what she believed to be an “evil spell”.

The fire got out of control, burning everything inside the kitchen.

The woman was then seen rushing out of her house to seek help, leaving her 75-year-old paralyzed mother behind.

Two fire engines and an ambulance immediately rushed to the scene upon being alerted of the incident, and firemen managed to prevent the fire from spreading to her room and also to nearby wooden houses.

They also rescued the paralyzed older woman from her room and brought her to safety.
