MIRI: Ten students of the International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) chipped in donations to alleviate the burden of fire victim Maimunah Abat at Merikan, Lutong recently.

Project leader Ehsan Mohd Ikhwan said this is a community service project for the students in their final semester of a BTEC Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic.

“When we got to know about Maimunah’s predicament, we collected donations from Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) and i-CATS. We hope this contribution will help Maimunah manage her daily needs,” he said in a statement.

Among the items donated are cooking oil, rice, sugar, salt, bread, eggs, used clothes and money from students and staff of PPKS/i-CATS.

Mohd Ehsan said the donated items were purchased using income earned from an entrepreneurship programme held on campus last month.

Present at the handover of donation were Administration and Human Resources manager Tuah Basir, Programme and Studies manager Ida Kartini Shanat and Community Service subject lecturer Noraini Sahaini.
