KUCHING: Three teenagers were arrested after being caught breaking into a house belonging to former deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Jamil Johari.

The incident came to light after a next door neighbour spotted three individuals breaking into the house at Jalan Dagok Timur in Satok around 7.15pm on Thursday and called the police who rushed to the scene.

District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said police personnel were able to arrest three persons at the scene of the crime and recovered a television set as well as an antique cupboard.

“Two of the suspects are 15 years old while the third is 18 years old. All of them hail from Kampung Bintangor in Satok.

“One of the 15-year-old is a student while the other, a school dropout.

“The 18-year-old is an employee at an auto workshop,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Abang Ahmad also confirmed the house targeted by the teens belonged to Mohd Jamil, but had been rented it out to someone else.

Following their arrests, the teens were brought to the police One-Stop Centre at Jalan Simpang Tiga for questioning before being put in the lockup pending investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house breaking.
