KUCHING: Sarawakians have not been disappointed with Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg’s performance and achievements as Chief Minister.

Political veteran Datuk Peter Minos said Abang Johari has proven himself to be a visionary leader who has taken remarkable steps to urbanise, industrialise and digitise Sarawak for the future.

“I believe we are relieved and happy that we are in the very safe hands of a highly capable leader who is progressive and proactive. He has given us a lot of surprises,” said Minos, who is Kota Samarahan Municipal Council chairman, yesterday – Abang Johari’s 100th day in office as Chief Minister.

Minos said the setting up of the Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS), investing in ICT infrastructure to lead Sarawak into a digital economy, exploring the potential of implementing a light rail transit to enhance connectivity, and purchasing the Bakun Hydroelectric Dam were some of the major projects Abang Johari introduced.

“His ideas are truly advanced and revolutionary in many aspects. After losing a highly popular, admired and respected chief minister (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem), we have one who truly shines,” he said.

Minos said he is confident Sarawak will definitely forge ahead and reach greater heights in all areas despite the many challenges and obstacles ahead.

He pointed out Abang Johari would continue to persist in pursuing the rights due to Sarawak under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 as well as with Petronas.

“Adenan has started the ball rolling and now clearly Abang Johari is not letting up as he continues to pressure Peninsular Malaysia. He was firm and clear that Sarawak wants our power and rights back, as well as more funds for development to catch up,” Minos said.
