JOHOR BAHRU: The 11-year-old Tahfiz student who was allegedly beaten by a 29-year-old assistant warden and being treated at the Sultan Ismail Hospital, died here today.

The father of the boy said his son, Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gaddafi died around 2.05pm at the High Dependency Ward (HDW) of the hospital.

Mohd Gaddafi Mat Karim, 43, a former Selangor footballer said the family would let the police carry out a full investigation on the matter as a police report had been made.

Mohd Gaddafi said the remains of his son would be buried at the Felda Bukit Aping Timur Muslim cemetery in Kota Tinggi after the postmortem.

Last Wednesday, the victim was admitted to HSI after severe bouts of pain as a result of being hit by the suspect.

Mohamad Thaqif Amin’s both legs were then amputated on Friday to prevent the spread of the infection to other parts of the body.

Mohd Gaddafi had said his son’s right arm was also in danger of being amputated, but it was postponed due to his unstable condition.

Yesterday, state health, environment, education and information committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said a report on the victim’s blood test and health examination to determine the actual cause of the amputation would be obtained within one or two weeks.

The remand for the assailant has been extended for three days. – Bernama
