KUCHING: A Primary 5 pupil was found hanged inside his bedroom on Thursday.
It is said that the 11-year-old boy from Kampung Bra’ang Payang at Jalan Puncak Borneo near here was fetched by his grandfather from school around 1pm and upon arrival home, the boy went into his bedroom.
When he did not come out after about three hours, his grandfather went to check on him and was shocked to find him hanged.
Deputy Padawan District police chief DSP Merbin Lisa, who confirmed the incident when contacted yesterday, said medical personnel who were despatched to the house pronounced the boy dead on site.
“It’s usually his routine after arriving home from school to go into his bedroom, and he would usually come out around 4pm.
“When he did not emerge, family members went in to check. They saw him hanged inside the bedroom,” said Merbin, adding that there were no indications of foul play there.
The deputy district OCPD said the reason behind this incident remained unclear as family members said they had not noticed anything amiss with the boy, who also never mentioned to them about having any problem.
The body was sent to Sarawak General Hospital. The boy’s family later claimed it that same evening for burial. Police have classified the incident as sudden death.
