Acquisition of Pixlr boosts 123RF offerings

KUCHING: The acquisition of Pixlr by 123RF will further boost its global offerings in the world of online cloud and mobile photo editing.

With the addition of this image editing tool, Inmagine Group, the parent company of 123RF, moves a step closer to its mission of creating a holistic creative ecosystem that makes great design accessible to all.

This acquisition propels Inmagine Group’s unique monthly active users (MAUs) towards the 50 million mark in addition to a compelling mobile strategy with over 100 million installs of Pixlr mobile apps, thereby creating a new vertically-integrated platform that delivers engaging user experiences to the creative community.

123RF’s in-house production team of over 200 will begin working to expand the Pixlr content library as a value add to its users, ensuring Pixlr communities will continue to have access to new tools and content.

Inmagine Group and 123RF founder and chairman Andy Sitt added, “It’s a game-changing collaboration that empowers creatives with seamless access to free and affordable content within their favorite free image editing tools.

“Through this transaction, both 123RF and Autodesk aim to develop and enhance Pixlr to inspire more users worldwide.”

Sitt told The Borneo Post that acquiring Pixlr will help 123RF further heighten its synergistic offerings to consumers – although he did not discuss its details.

“Pixlr is one of the world’s most widely used cloud and mobile photo editors. With the addition of this tool, Inmagine Group moves closer to its mission of creating a holistic creative ecosystem that makes great design accessible to all.

“It is premature to discuss the details of synergy benefits at this point. 123RF’s in-house production team of over 200 will begin working to expand the Pixlr content library as a value add to its users, ensuring Pixlr communities will continue to have access to new tools and content.

“We are excited to enable users with seamless access to free and affordable content within their favorite free image editing tools,” he added.  Our team of engineers is already integrating Pixlr’s platform with 123RF, and we should see some level of integration in the third quarter of the year.”

When asked if the group was looking to further expand its portfolio of offerings via other acquisitions, Sitt said they were always on the look-out for new business opportunities to accelerate growth at a global level and enable creatives all around the world.

“Our mission is to empower users of all levels with free and affordable access to content, software and services that enable them to create beautiful designs and communicate inspiring stories with minimal effort,” he said.

“We will continue to look for opportunities going forward to strengthen our portfolio within the creative ecosystem. Software as a Service (SaaS) for the design space is an area where we will be placing more effort, in order to empower users of different segment the ability to create beautiful design with ease.

“Our team is also working on embedding artificial and data intelligence into our design services to ensure user experience continue to improve.”
