Over 80 golfers for state amateur open c’ships

SIBU: Attractive prizes amounting to RM350,000 are up for grabs at the 48th Sarawak Amateur Open Golf Championship and the 29th Sarawak Amateur Ladies Golf Championship to be held at Sibu Golf Course from May 5-7.

Sibu Golf Club (SGC) captain Lau Hie Ping said more than 80 golfers from throughout Sarawak and a few from Peninsula Malaysia will compete in the three-day tournament.

“We are happy and pleased to have Huong Seng Motor Trading (HSMT) Sdn Bhd who sponsors

two units of Chevrolet pickup trucks as the hole-in-one prizes for Hole 8 and Hole 14,” he said at a ceremony to receive the mock key of the two vehicles from HSMT’s managing director Goh Kee Seng.

The two trucks are Colorado 2.8-High Country valued at EM134,358.97 and Colorado 2.5-LTZ valued at RM116,932.98.

The championships will be decided over three rounds of 18 holes for both men’s and ladies events.

Registered golfers should have a current handicap of 14 and below for men and 24 and below for women.

Also present at the ceremony are SGC deputy president Hii Tiong Kheng, secretary Roland Ha and committee members Peter Chiong, Simon Ting, Matthew Ha and Robert Lau Siew Hui.
