KUCHING: Harmoni booked their ticket to the final of the KGS Team Matchplay Championship at Kelab Golf Sarawak (KGS) last Sunday when they edged Titans 3-2 in a closely fought semi-final.
Captained by Abdul Jalil Abdul Rahman, Harmoni players included Johari Aman, Mohd Amirul Fadhlan, Dato Khir Busrah, Mohd Yusri Jusmail, Adzwa Kamri, Abg Ibrahim Abg Salleh, Eddie Hashim, Mohd Ibrahim Abg Salleh, Abang Marni Abg Busut, Ismail Puat Saat and Haidel Heli.
They will now challenge for the Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Wong Soon Kai Challenge Trophy as they bid to dethrone the defending champions HKH Pink in the final at Matang Nine course on May 13.
HKH Pink, who are made up of a good mix of junior and senior players, are expected to make a strong defence of their crown.
They have won all their matches, beating Kaban 17, Team HGA and Titans all by the score of 3-2 and were the first team to enter the final after defeating Titans on April 23.
The team members are Jimmie Teo (captain), Hoan Kee Hock (team manager), Lee Kah Ming, Azizul Annuar Adenan, Aziel Teo, Bernard Yeo Chun How, Aaron Lau Zhun Min, Bernett Ling Soon Kiong, Giannino Foo Chee Ming, Joseph Lau Ka Hoo, Sim Khee Hian, Samdrick Yeo and Shenton Tok Wen Hao.
This year’s team matchplay competition commenced on Mar 25 and is contested by 12 teams who had played 21 matches in a very good sportsmanship and friendly spirit.
Other teams who also participated are Kaban 17, Mafia Hukum, KPGA, Eagles, K30 Adios, JJ, Junior Players, Warriors 88 and HGA.
The KGS tournament organising committee will be holding a Ballsweep for four players from each team at Siol and Demak Nines on a staggered start commencing from 7.02am on May 13.
