About 70 players from Kota Samarahan, Serian, Bintulu, Miri and host Sibu Table Tennis Association (STTA) took part in the two-day championship.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, STTA president Dr Clement Chen was grateful to the players for their initiative in coming here and taking part in the competition.

He said the competition would augur well for the development of the sport as it would be easier for them to tap and pick talented players from throughout the state for national competitions.

Chen said the idea to categorise the game into Categories A, B and D was to give players a fair chance to compete and opportunity to win titles.

However, he was disappointed that Category A women’s section could not be held due to lack of response.
