KUCHING: Satt College Kuching graduates are much-sought after in the local service and hospitality industry in the state.

Assistant Minister of Urban Plannning, Land Adminsitration and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh said many hotels in Kuching sourced their

manpower need from the college while others (graduates) have successfully set up their own businesses related to their field of studies.

“I am sure the (Satt) college is proud of their graduates and I urge the college to continue to produce skilled workers not only for Sarawak but for the whole country.

“Your graduates have been snapped by five-star hotels in Kuching. Many were given jobs even before they graduated.

“This is a positive development because you have answered the call of the government to produce competent and competitive graduates,” he added.

Len said this before giving away certificates and diplomas to 139 students who graduated from Satt College Kuching yesterday.

He advised the graduates to further enhance their skills and knowledge.

“Take any opportunity to further your studies in order to reach your highest dream. Go for life-long learning as there is no end to learning whatever your age,” he said.

Meanwhile, the college managing director Mohamad Nazri Abdillah said from the 139 graduates, 44 were diploma students, 95 Malaysia Skill Certificate students,16 Regional Specific Tourist Guide (RSTG) students and 16 ‘Kemahiran Sinar Kecermelangan’ students.

Nazri said the college also offers educational incentive to those students who do not have the means to further their studies in hotel and tourism-related programmes with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTm).
