Moment of silence observed in DUN sitting for passing of Soon Kai, James Jimbun

Members of the august House observe a minute of silence before the question-and-answer session.

KUCHING: The State Legislative Assembly (DUN) here observed a minute of silence for two former state leaders who passed away in March and April.

DUN speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar extended condolences to the family of Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Wong Soon Kai, who passed away on March 22, and Temenggong Datuk James Jimbun, who passed away on April 18.

“Tan Sri Wong Soon Kai was a former deputy chief minister, a state cabinet minister, and Bukit Assek assemblyman, while Temenggong Datuk James was Kapit MP.

“Let us all rise to observe a minute of silence,” announced Asfia in the DUN Chamber, Petra Jaya here today.

Prior to this, Asfia ruled that an hour would be allocated for the question-and-answer session followed by a debate on the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s opening speech, daily from today until next Wednesday.
