Amirul, Eliza top MSSM golf selection meet

KUCHING: Mohd Amirul Fadlan and Eliza Mae Kho were crowned as the champions of the Boys A and Girls A categories of the MSS Sarawak Golf Championship at Kelab Golf Sarawak (KGS) yesterday.

Amirul posted a two-day total score of 165 (82, 83) to finish just one stroke ahead of Giannino Foo while Adam Muzaffar came in third place with his score of 183.

The Boys B category was won by Malcolm Ting after he returned an impressive total score of 151 (77, 74) to beat Benjamin Ethan Ngelingkong (170) and Muhammad Aiman Al-Hakim (175) into second and third spots respectively.

Anson Yeo claimed the Boys C title with his score of 166 (78, 88) and Saxen Hii was second two strokes further back while in third place was Muhammad Hadif Fathely with 183 strokes.

In the four-player Girls A competition, Eliza scored an 81 on Thursday and 86 yesterday for a total of 163 to top the category, followed by Adeline Lau (191) and Nicole Wong (194) in second and third spots respectively.

Girls B champion was Sharifah Aisyah Tijan Yahya whose score was 167, two strokes ahead of Angel Hii while Asha Nabeela came in third with a score of 210.

Meanwhile, Mirabel Ting will be joining elder brother Macolm at the MSSM Golf Championship in Putrajaya from Aug 8-10 after she won the Girls C by returning a two-day score of 162.

Eva Puyang Deng and Mabel Bong were second and third with scores of 222 and 270 respectively.

Sarawak Education Department Human Development Management Sector chief assistant director Salina Bujang closed the event and gave away the prizes.

Also present were Sarawak Golf Association (SGA) president Hoan Kee Hock and KGS management committee member cum junior development chairman Henry Chuo.

Thirty-five junior golfers including 13 girls participated in this first ever selection tournament organised by the Sarawak State Education Department with the support of SGA and KGS as the host.
