KUALA LUMPUR: A mother and her boyfriend were arrested on suspicion of causing the death of her two years and 10 months old son at her house in Jalan Datuk Seri P. Alagendra, Kajang, yesterday.

The case was uncovered  when the 29-year-old mother, who worked as a nursery assistant, took her son to the Kajang Hospital in the morning after the child experienced respiratory problems.

Kajang police chief ACP Othman Nanyan said the boy was admitted to the emergency ward and there were also reddish marks and swelling on his body.            “A few minutes later the child died.

“The results of the autopsy conducted at  5pm yesterday found that the child’s ribs were broken, there were many bruise marks on the body and the pancreas was torn which had caused internal bleeding,” he said when contacted.

“The cause of death was ‘abdominal injuries consistent with that due to blunt force trauma’,”  he said when contacted today.

Othman said the woman’s 39-year-old boyfriend who worked at a food stall had tested positive for ganja.

He said the case would be investigated for murder. – Bernama
